Today SportItalia, a leading Italian television channel that focuses on providing sport 24 hours a day, has put pen to paper on a multi-year partnership with Sportradar.

Under the terms of the agreement, SportItalia will provide all the content, while Sportradar will provide the streaming platform and technical solution that will empower the channel’s 24/7 online streaming site as well as will also make SportItalia’s popular shows available on demand. After the European Handball Federation – with whom Sportradar has announced a partnership beginning of June, Sportitalia is Sportradar’s next customer for its newest streaming product: Sportradar OTT. Sportradar OTT is Sportradar’s latest product innovation – a customisable OTT platform provided to rights holders free of charge with the rights holder providing content and Sportradar providing the technical platform, monetisation and marketing know-how.

Outlining the reason behind the partnership, SportItalia CEO Michele Criscitiello said: “Although Sportradar’s OTT solution is new to the market, their reputation and pedigree in the audiovisual market is well established. That expertise that they bring to our relationship, plus their creativity around the commercialization options, means that their offer is the most compelling and we are excited to see how our work together will ensure Italian sports fans get the sport and programming that they want, when they want”.

Sportradar’s Managing Director for OTT Rainer Geier added: “The momentum we have had since launching our OTT solution just this month with the European Handball Federation, then agreeing to provide the German professional football team Eintracht Braunschweig with their own club TV platform and now rolling out this SportItalia partnership – it has been so exciting. To see that our solution can work for federations, clubs and existing broadcasters has highlighted its versatility and has vindicated our careful strategising. This is such a proud moment for us. SportItalia is a critical player in a mature and demanding market. Their trust means a lot to us and we cannot wait to start maximising the value of their platforms”.
